Your post has many valid points. I would like to present a few that have not been adequately presented.

Any government will try to protect itself, and the status-quo. Actually any government should do that, it's expected.

Demonstrating peacefully is when you get hauled off to jail. That is an act of defiance, if the masses did that, it would start a change.

Arson, mayhem, firearms and anarchy, those are criminal acts, definitely not peaceful. Any government will oppose that, and it is expected. It is the role of any government to restore order.

The red shirts lost a lot of credibility when they became associated with criminal activity. This is very unfortunate, and can be very damaging to the movement.

Prayers for the Thai people. Death, pillaging, arson, and war is not the solution.

Excellent post. I think that it is extremely helpful to look at this from a historical perspective like you have done, and it seems to me in the discussions I see, people often don't really understand or care where the current protests fit in to a long line of struggles.

I also agree that increased participation (or as you say, "passion") in Thai politics that I have seen recently are a very promising development. The more people who are actively involved in governing themselves, the better.

I also believe that blogs, Twitter, Facebook, web boards, etc. are an important part of sharing opinions and news. I don't think you should underestimate their power. So keep up the great work here and on Twitter as well. Conversation is good. The more we talk, the less we have to fight with guns.

(Unfortunately we have moved beyond the point of no return in the current situation, but I remain hopeful for Thailand's future.)

Hello sir,

We at the ICT Ministry are very impress with your website skill. Yesterday we have big meeting at hotel the good one (oyster delicious so much!) and I propose to my team that we hire you for redesigning MICT web home page. Are you interest? Maybe we must to change dolphin animal to something more cute. One suggestion the good one was to use a panda. What do you thinking? Please fax my secretary and we can discuss more.

Yours,
Ranongrak Suwanchawee
Minster of ICT, Thai government.

You forgot MIDI background music. And resizable frames. AND TABLES.

I miss the old days. This is what I really made when I was in high school IT class.

I think changing the dolphin to a panda would really put this into the Thai market.

Personally, I love it!
