And “workout” is in quotation marks for a reason.
This morning, for the first time since I prematurely ended my soccer career at the age of 12, I got some exercise for the sake of exercise.
I ran about 2km on a treadmill, did 20 situps (against an incline!), and finally some upper body workout at some devil machine. At that point I was too busy panting to count how many times i pushed what lever and pulled what pulley. All in all it took about 30 minutes (or 7 songs of Nas’ 1994 album Illmatic.)
I knew it was going to be bad, but oh boy. I think I had stomach cramps at one point, and I almost threw up but that was probably because I drank too much water. I’m pretty beat right now but man, I know I’ll really feel it tomorrow.
Aren’t you supposed to feel good after a workout? Maybe I’m doing something wrong. For my next session I’ll have to check out some youtubes or something, like the pale flabby nerd that I am.

I’ve just started doing offroad mountain biking after having fallen seriously out of shape over the last few years of family and business building (usual excuses). I’ve found after a big ride going to a spa some time the same day and doing a few rounds of hotpool->sauna->coldpool makes me really fresh and ache free the next day and ready to do it all again.
Check out the “Couch to 5K” program(me), I surprised myself by completing it in the 9 weeks. Before I did the program I’d tried running a mile (in my normal shitty shoes) and felt like dying afterwards, by the end I could do 3 miles and still have energy left over at the end. Having actual running shoes does make a fairly big difference. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
Plus you can get these podcasts for C25K set to techno that tell you when to start/stop running. Personally I didn’t consider the techno to be a plus but I know you Euro’s eat that shit up

Thanks for all the tips, I need all the encouragement I can get, haha.
I live around Ratchada, so while there is a bunch of “spas” they’re not quite what I need right now. Maybe a massage tonight though.
I bought good running shoes a while back, finally took them out of the box this morning. I’ll check out that couch to 5k thing, but I don’t think I can do the techno.
Now if I can only get Wordpress to automatically accept comments, that would be nice.
It is somewhere in the settings, surprisingly.
Trick to enjoy working out is to enjoy the pain. My pro boxer friend stayed with that sport after she saw stars after her first training (not due to hits – not in the first training! – just due to exhaustion).
How to get to like that? I don’t know. Just stick with it a bit and notice how the pain improves your shape, or get to notice that you actually feel good afterwards, once you get your amount of sleep. I cannot work out for 2 months now due to injuries, and I cannot concentrate for more than 10 minutes. Was better before.
